The Western Shepherd Project

The Western Shepherd is a recreation of the original German working dog with today’s modern lifestyle in mind.

The Western Shepherd is a large shepherd type with Males standing 26" at the shoulder weighing a lean 85-105 lbs. Females stand 24" weighing 75-90 lbs.

The program was started to breed out the many structural problems, such as hip dysplasia as well as a conformation that is restrictive of the athletic abilities first created by Capt. Max von Stephanitz.

This is a form follows function breed and that principal has led to a superior, athlete and a loss of undercoat, not needed for today’s urban lifestyle and central heat.

With thirty five years as a Texas state licensed professional Guard Dog trainer I appreciate the need for a personal protection dog with the size and power to subdue a large man without aid from a wife, or child.

There is also a need for the dog to be an outgoing, people accepting part of your family. After all they can’t protect your person if they are not with you. Westerns are very people oriented with a strong affinity for children.

We breed twice a year all dogs are guaranteed health wise and basic training is included with all pups.

To reserve your future best friend give us a call at (817) 483-2026 and we’ll reserve your pup.
